Chiefs Concerned After Andy Reid Shows Up to Camp 300 Pounds Under Target Weight
The Kansas City Chiefs organization is reportedly raising concerns this week after head coach Andy Reid arrived at training camp weighing in at around 230 pounds—nearly 300 pounds below his expected target weight.
“It’s disappointing,” said Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach. “We set target weights for everyone on our roster, players and coaches alike. For running backs, it’s typically 200 to 220 pounds. For Andy, it’s closer to a quarter of a metric ton.”
Veach elaborated further, adding, “We aim for Andy to show up somewhere between the weight of a leopard seal and a pygmy hippopotamus. This year, he’s come in looking…vigorous. He’s got a healthy glow, there’s barely any cheese stuck in his mustache, and he’s wearing an actual belt instead of using an extension cord to hold up his pants. It’s a youthful, fit appearance that makes us worry he hasn’t spent the offseason buried in barbecue and playbooks, obsessively crafting an offense capable of winning a division title. Frankly, it’s unsettling.”
At press time, Reid was spotted turning down his customary midday trough of poutine and ground biscuits in favor of a single-patty cheeseburger, further deepening Veach’s unease about the season ahead.
