A Tearful Kirk Herbstreit Says Alabama Deserves Bowl Win Over Michigan After Losing to Michigan in Bowl Game
"Alabama deserves to be on that podium over Michigan," Kirk Herbstreit passionately told his ESPN colleagues following Michigan's decisive victory over Alabama.
“They were just more bowl-ready than Michigan,” he insisted, referring to Alabama’s preparation, strength, and experience that readied them for their Bowl Loss against Michigan.
Doubling down, he criticized Michigan’s regular-season schedule, claiming it lacked the intensity of the Southeastern Conference. “Michigan played such a watered-down schedule,” he said, his voice quivering with emotion. “They never could have cut it in an SEC schedule.” Herbstreit elaborated, minutes after Michigan beat Alabama.
Turning his ire toward Indiana, Herbstreit lamented their playoff inclusion over Alabama. “This is exactly why Alabama should’ve been in the playoffs over a less deserving team like Indiana,” he said, dabbing tears from his eyes. Struggling to connect his argument to the current game, he added, “I’ll tell you who’s not keeping up with Michigan today… Indiana.” He said of Indiana, who beat Michigan a month ago.
